Highlighting Everyday Hustlers
I have to admit that this week has been hard for me to stay motivated and focused. This week my family and I were supposed to be on a cruise celebrating my mother in law’s 75th birthday and my birthday. I know I am extremely fortunate to be safe at home during this time, but I think it is okay to mourn what has been cancelled and not being able to celebrate life’s milestones with all of your loved ones. I am still grateful and continue to work toward my goals and visions, but I wanted to let everyone else know that is okay to feel disappointed or frustrated for what this time has taken away from you.
This week I have decided to highlight a friend that inspires and motivates me. I love Cyndee’s attitude towards life. She is fearless, an adventurer, constant traveler, and is not afraid to try anything or put herself out there. She is the kind of person who will go to an event on her own if she has too and has traveled to over 33 countries. Recently, Cyndee did something that truly inspired me. By day she works at PWC, but she just did her first ever live stand-up comedy routine. Her guts, courage, and ability to put yourself out there really motivated me to push forward on my vision, goals, and dreams. She also highlighted and addressed her multiracial background in her comedy sketch. Her acknowledgement of her multiracial background also validated the experiences I have also as a biracial woman. Cyndee is also a thoughtful friend and a beautiful person inside and out. To follow Cynde click here

Every time my mom sees that there is a movie she watched when she was young on Turner Classic Movies she will call and text me about it. Also, she will ask me if I watched it every day until I do. I am so thankful for my mom for introducing me to classic movies when I was young. I love the movies from 50s and 60s. I think the movie stars then seemed bigger than life and had an air of sophistication and grace. Here are a list of classic movies I love:
-The Eddy Duchin Story (Have seen this over 50 times and made all of my friends and family watch it when I was young)
-Little Women 1933 version
-Imitation of Life
-The King and I
-The Sound of Music
-An Affair to Remember
Also, if you didn’t know my favorite show ever is I Love Lucy particularly the CA and European vacations.
Meghan Markle Update
I am so happy to announce that Omid Scoobie, one of my favorite royal correspondents and host of the Heirpod podcast, wrote a book about Harry and Meghan called Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family.
It comes out in August and I can’t wait to read it! For more information about the book click here
Final Thoughts-Embracing the Hustler Life
I really love the word “Hustler” because I think of a person who is a go-getter and finds solutions to whatever gets in their way. The following is the definition from Dictionary.com:
An aggressively enterprising person; a go-getter
I know I associate the word “aggressive” with negative connotations, but I think there is a way to be aggressive that connotes straightforward and persistent. I want to reclaim the word “Hustlers” to be a passionate go getter who will work and conquer all of the barriers that get in their way!
Stay safe and healthy!
