New Goal for 2022

A goal I have for 2022 is to write a blog post once a month. I have said this before — and my last post was in April 2021 — but I really want to commit to this and am tweaking my morning routine to give myself time to write. One thing I am going to do is to take time away from social media and post about once a week and relate it back to the blog and website. That is another thing I have to highlight more is my website. I spent hours of time building it and barely ever look at it. Another goal of 2022 is to drive traffic to the site so people can learn about me and the biracial women I highlight.

Memories of my Grandma

This past Christmas, I wanted to give my cousin’s children a book that talked about and focused on a Popo. A Popo is a maternal grandmother and my Popo was my favorite person growing up and I wanted the next generation to know about her. I found a children’s book on Amazon and bought 3 copies and read it as soon as it is arrived. It was a beautiful story and explained who a “Popo” is, but it didn’t capture my experiences with my grandmother so I am now working on capturing her story. At our annual family Christmas dinner, I asked everyone to share their favorite moments of my grandmother and I am going to create a book that details our personal stories and photos so she can be known and loved by future generations. My goal is to have this done by Mother’s Day 2022.

Books I am reading

Is it weird to say that I love readings memoirs from people who share an experience with me? Though I am not a comedian or successful Indian actress I really enjoyed reading the following books to hear about their experiences and resonating with some of our shared experiences:

How to be American by Jimmy O Yang

You Can’t Be Serious-Kal Penn

Unfinished by Priyanka Chopra Jonas

New Beginnings and Self Care

New position

I didn’t expect that 2022 would start and I would have a new job. I am now the Interim Executive Director of Executive Education. I am excited and nervous about this new opportunity, and can use my skills from previous positions in this new role. I have a lot to learn and will have multiple demands on my time, but my goal is to stick to my morning routine for my own sanity and a little me time.

I try to follow this morning routine during the week:

4:30am-Wake-Up

5:00–5:30am-Workout

5:30–6:00am-Blog and catch up on things I need to do

6:00am-Start my morning

This schedule is not feasible for everyone, but it is the only way I ensure some time for me and to do some self-care.

Stay safe and healthy!
